How to Thread Eyebrows
For most people, eyebrow shaping involves plucking or
waxing the eyebrows. But for others, it is as easy as threading. Threading, the
term I just mentioned, is a new term in the United States. However, this
technique has been used for centuries in China. What is eyebrow threading? How
does it work? Keep reading if you're as curious about this ancient Chinese
technique as I am.
Where did Eyebrow Threading originate?
Eyebrow threading has roots that go back to China. It
was popularized in India and quickly spread throughout South East Asia.
Although it is China's most well-known threading technique, it was not known by
the United States until India introduced it.
What's Eyebrow Threading?
Eyebrow threading is a simple technique to create a
smooth, straight shape to your eyebrows by removing hairs at the follicle and
leaving a clean line. To thread a piece 24 inch long of cotton thread, tie a
knot at each end to create a circle. Next, place your thumb and index fingers
in the center of the circle. Then twist it around 10 times to create an (X)
shape. The threading process begins with the (X-shaped) portion of the thread
being placed snuggly against the skin of the hairs to be removed. Next, close
your thumb and index fingers on the left hand and extend the thumb and index
finger on the right. The (X) at the center will move to the right and wrap
itself around the hairs. To thread eyebrows, start at the top, then move down
to the bottom. Then work your way up the brow. Threading results typically last
between 2 and 3 weeks. Repeated threading can take up to 4 to 6 weeks.
Microblading Eyebrows Cost is less painful than waxing,
tweezing, and lasts much longer. Threading does not cause skin irritation. To
close any pores that were left open after the hair follicle was removed, it is
a good idea to apply a bit of toner to the eyebrows. Threading can be done all
over the body, not just for eyebrows. The upper lip and the leg hairs are most
popular places to thread. This is a preference of women from countries like
Vietnam and Korea.
